1848 Students receive AICS aid from DSWD
One thousand eight hundred forty-eight (1848) students across all DOrSU campuses received Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) on April 5, at the university gymnasium. The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) provided 5000 pesos to each student through the initiative of Senator Imee R. Marcos’s office, in partnership with the University’s Office of the Financial Aids and Scholarship Grants (FAaSG) and the LGU Mati.
During the program, DOrSU President Dr. Roy G. Ponce reminded the students to use the aid wisely and only for educational purposes. Jerson M. Dedel, the Region XI Coordinator from the Office of Senator Imee R. Marcos, also emphasized the importance of spending the money to support the students’ education. Mati City Mayor Michelle Rabat echoed the same encouragement and reminded the students to be grateful for the government’s help and use the aid to achieve positive results.
This initiative demonstrates DOrSU’s and the government’s dedication to helping the community tackle challenges, particularly those that impact students’ education. By providing financial assistance to those in need, the government is making a significant contribution to ensuring that young people have access to the resources they need to succeed. (DOrSU PIO)
