The Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) through the Gender and Development (GAD) Center initiated a collaborative meeting with Global Impact Phils Foundation, Inc. last November 11, 2021.
Global Impact is a nonprofit organization that aims to capacitate communities through leadership training, freedom ministry, and human trafficking prevention.
The meeting was attended by SUC President III Dr. Roy G. Ponce, VP for Academic Affairs Dr. Saturnino Dalagan Jr., and Director for Research and Development Dr. Roy Padilla. Meanwhile, the team from Global Impact was led by Ptr. Amy Muranko-Gahan.
Mr. Jhonnel P. Villegas, GAD Center Focal Person, presented the University’s SAFE Program: Social Awareness, Fairness, and Equity at the time of Pandemic and Beyond which was created as a response to the growing cases of gender-based and sexual violence in the midst of the pandemic in Davao Oriental.
This intervention from DOrSU sparked several possible points for partnership with Global Impact specifically on matters such as student leaders’ training, mainstreaming IACVAWC initiatives, and combating human trafficking.
More discussions will soon take place in preparation for a potential Memorandum of Agreement signing.
