The newly elected officers of the University Student Council (USC) of Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) formally took their oath of office today, July 29, in a ceremony held at the University Boardroom. The event was officiated by University President Dr Roy G. Ponce, who impressed upon the student leaders the weight of their roles and the opportunities now afforded to them as part of the university’s governance.
“You have a seat now at the table,” Dr Ponce emphasized. “President Cablinda will represent you on the Board of Regents. The voice of the student body is not only heard but also influential in shaping the direction of the university.” He also urged the officers to lead programs that are inclusive, student-centered, and grounded in DOrSU’s values of excellence and public service.
USC Adviser Dr Arvin A. Andacao and Co-adviser Dr. Leonard Sydrick Pajo also expressed their support and encouraged the officers to carry out their responsibilities with integrity, transparency, and a genuine commitment to student welfare. Both affirmed the administration’s readiness to guide the council in advancing initiatives that respond to student needs and interests.
Naxes Jee T. Cablinda was sworn in as USC President, with John Carlo C. Balante as Vice President, Diether S. Manguiob as Secretary, Loui Jay Rhean C. Ponce as Treasurer, Lemwiel C. Hitutua as Auditor, Tyrone Kyle P. Dapitanon as Business Manager, and Ian Carlo Calub as Public Information Officer.
