DOrSU showcases COIL, sustainability initiatives at ATU-Net International Staff Week in Vietnam
Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) highlighted its accomplishments in digital global learning and marine conservation on an international platform during the Asia Technological University Network (ATU-Net) International Staff Week 2026, held from August 17 to 19 at Phenikaa University in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Representing DOrSU, Ms. Marivic F. Espinosa participated in the three-day gathering organized under the theme “Universities as Impact Hubs – Advancing Learning, Innovation and Sustainable Development.”
Espinosa served as a panelist in the session “SDGs in Action: Bridging Education, Experience, and Sustainable Impact.” In her presentation, she detailed DOrSU’s implementation of Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) in direct alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education). She emphasized how COIL leverages technology-enabled academic collaboration to provide students and faculty with meaningful international exposure beyond traditional, physical mobility programs.
Beyond the panel discussion, DOrSU contributed to the event’s environmental dialogue through a poster presentation focused on SDG 14 (Life Below Water). The showcase highlighted the university’s active research and community initiatives in marine and coastal sustainability, bringing local conservation efforts into the international exchange of academic practices.
The 2026 International Staff Week convened representatives from across higher education institutions to share insights on digital mobility, quality assurance, research-to-market translation, artificial intelligence in integrative healthcare, and cross-cultural networking.
DOrSU’s participation directly advances key objectives within its GROWTH 2029 Framework. Specifically, it aligns with the Global Recognition pillar’s mandate for expanded international partnerships, the World-Class Digital Transformation thrust toward technology-driven instruction, and the Research Excellence priority area focusing on SDG 14 and real-world solutions.
Through its engagement at ATU-Net International Staff Week, DOrSU both absorbed institutional best practices and contributed its own model for using international collaboration and sustainability initiatives to maximize higher education’s impact.
