DOrSU Professor Joins Global Roster of IOHSK Fellows

Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) professor, Dr. Arvin A. Andacao, was officially inducted as the 12th fellow of the International Organization for Health, Sports, and Kinesiology (IOHSK) during its 9th International Conference held on July 22-24 at Chung-Ang University in the Republic of Korea. Dr. Andacao, who is also DOrSU’s Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) Program Head, was one of the seven professionals admitted to the IOHSK fellowship in 2026, bringing the organization’s global roster to 18 fellows.

Dr. Andacao’s academic work spans teaching, research, community engagement, and international collaboration in physical education, sports science, health promotion, and kinesiology. These efforts have provided opportunities for students, educators, and researchers to participate in professional and academic exchanges beyond the university.

He has also published work on integrating regenerative futures into sports and physical education. He is among the DOrSU faculty members who first brought the university’s regenerative futures vision into their respective fields of specialization, linking sports and human development with approaches that support long-term social and environmental well-being. His work continues to contribute to DOrSU’s efforts in expanding its international academic presence while advancing its niche and branding.

On Aug. 4, 2026, Dr. Andacao paid a courtesy call on DOrSU President Roy G. Ponce, who congratulated him on the international recognition and his contributions to the university. President Ponce commended him for bringing recognition to the university and for exemplifying the priorities of DOrSU’s GROWTH 2029 framework, particularly its directions on Globalization and Internationalization, Research Excellence and Innovation, Thriving Curriculum and Future-Ready Learning, and Holistic Development and Culture of Care.

The IOHSK fellowship is the organization’s highest recognition. It is conferred on individuals with established records in scholarship, professional leadership, and service who have maintained sustained involvement in the organization.

Candidates must meet at least five requirements, which include length of IOHSK membership, service on the IOHSK board or the editorial board of the Journal of Health, Sports, and Kinesiology, participation in conference committees, research presentations, publications and attendance at official IOHSK activities.

IOHSK fellows are also expected to mentor future professionals, provide leadership, and help advance health, sports, and kinesiology through scholarship and international cooperation.
