DOrSU BECEd holds PlayLab for preschool learners

Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU), through its Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECEd) program, held “The PlayLab: Integrated Child Well-Being, Inclusive Play, and Values Learning Experience” on April 27, 2026, at the University Student Center.
Organized in collaboration with the DOrSU Preschool and the BLECEd Organization, the activity served as a hands-on learning platform for BECEd students, allowing them to design and facilitate learning stations for young learners.
Around 100 preschool learners joined the activity, which featured guided play and learning sessions integrating child health and safety, play-based instruction, inclusive education, values formation, and mother tongue-based learning.
The preschool learners were grouped and assigned to different learning stations prepared by BECEd students under the supervision of faculty members. Through the activity, the student-facilitators were able to apply developmentally appropriate teaching strategies while engaging children in activities that supported cognitive, social, emotional, and motor development.
BECEd Program Coordinator Emellie D. Careña led the activity, together with BECEd faculty members who observed and assessed the student-facilitators using performance checklists. The assessment focused on how the students managed the activities, interacted with the children, and applied inclusive and child-centered approaches.
Parents and guardians also took part in a reflection and sharing session after the learning activities, where they shared observations and feedback on the children’s experiences.
The PlayLab provided BECEd students with practical teaching exposure while giving preschool learners a safe and engaging space for play, interaction, and values-based learning.
