LTO’s SAFE Program Benefits Over 1,500 DOrSU Students, Personnel
More than 1,500 students and personnel of Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) have benefited from the Land Transportation Office’s (LTO) SAFE (Strengthening Advocacy for Educators and Drivers) Program, reinforcing road safety education and expanding access to driver licensing services across the University’s Main and Extension Campuses.
The program’s accomplishments were presented during the DOrSU–LTO coordination meeting held on July 27 at the University Boardroom. Present were DOrSU President Dr. Roy G. Ponce, LTO Regional Office XI OIC–Assistant Regional Director Joel T. Mandaya, and LTO Mati District Office Head Lloyd D. Bucod.
The SAFE Program is the LTO’s flagship initiative that promotes road safety through education while delivering essential licensing services directly to schools and other partner institutions. By bringing these services closer to communities, the program encourages responsible driving and improves access to government services.
According to the data presented during the meeting, 1,517 members of the DOrSU community have benefited from the initiative. Among them, 627 completed the Theoretical Driving Course (TDC), 830 were issued Student Driver’s Permits, and 60 availed of Driver’s License Renewal services.
LTO and DOrSU officials also reviewed the program’s implementation and discussed ways to further strengthen their partnership. Through the collaboration, the University continues to serve as a venue for the LTO’s road safety advocacy and service delivery, enabling students and personnel to complete licensing requirements more conveniently while fostering a culture of responsible and law-abiding motorists.
