DOrSU, Provincial Engineer’s Office ink MOA for civil engineering internship training

Davao Oriental State University has partnered with the Davao Oriental Provincial Engineer’s Office to open government-based internship training opportunities for its Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering students.
The partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed on June 4 by Dr. Roy G. Ponce, DOrSU President, and Engr. Ruel C. Dumadag, Provincial Engineer.
Under the agreement, qualified Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) students of DOrSU’s Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Technology (FACET) will undergo 240 hours of on-the-job training (OJT) at the Provincial Engineer’s Office, giving them exposure to actual engineering work in the public sector. The internship is part of the BSCE curriculum and is required for students who have completed the third-year level of the program.
As host training establishment, the Provincial Engineer’s Office will provide supervised applied learning experiences, assign tasks suited to their training needs, monitor their progress, and evaluate their performance after completing the program.
DOrSU, meanwhile, will oversee the implementation of the internship, coordinate student deployment, and ensure that academic and competency requirements are met.
The MOA will take effect on June 15, 2026, and will remain in force until July 31, 2031, with an option for renewal.
Through the partnership, DOrSU aims to strengthen the practical training of future civil engineers by connecting classroom learning with the demands of public infrastructure work and professional practice.
