DOrSU Welcomes Second Mandarin Teacher from Huaqiao University

Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) officially welcomed today, August 11, during the flag-raising ceremony, Laoshi Lin Wenhui, the second Mandarin volunteer teacher from Huaqiao University, as part of a continuing partnership with the Confucius Institute at Ateneo de Davao University (CI-AdDU).
Arriving in Davao City from Xiamen, China, Lin was formally deployed to DOrSU on August 4. She was accompanied to Mati by CI-AdDU English Director Dr. Maricar Gay V. Panda and CI-AdDU Administrative Assistant Jeffrey Kim Martin, in coordination with DOrSU President Dr. Roy G. Ponce and Global Affairs and International Relations Office (GAIRO) Director Dr. Lilibeth S. Galvez.
Lin holds a Master’s degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages from Huaqiao University and a Bachelor’s degree in English from China Jiliang University. Her professional experience spans both in-person and online instruction, including teaching Grade 9 students through Huaqiao University’s Bolivian Siyuan Chinese Language School Online Program and assisting in data-driven online learning projects.
In 2024, she served under the Ministry of Education Center for Language Education and Cooperation Volunteer Program as a Chinese Language Teacher at Diez de Octubre Colegio in Peru, where she guided students to earn the “Excellence Award” in the Chinese Bridge competition and volunteered at the Chinese Embassy during the APEC Summit. Beyond the classroom, Lin is proficient in English and skilled in advanced digital tools, research, and creative disciplines, including traditional Chinese painting and photography.
She succeeds Laoshi Yie Ji, the first Mandarin teacher from Huaqiao University deployed to DOrSU for Academic Year 2023–2024. Yie Ji, who had prior volunteer teaching experience in Cambodia, taught Mandarin as a foreign language through the same partnership between DOrSU and CI-AdDU. She was welcomed in August 2023 by DOrSU President Ponce alongside CI-AdDU leaders and fellow Mandarin teachers from Huaqiao University.
The arrival of Lin is expected to further strengthen DOrSU’s initiatives in language education and cultural exchange, aligning with the university’s commitment to providing diverse learning opportunities for its students while building enduring international linkages. (DOrSU PIO)
