Mr. Wilkin Felisilda Simo, a faculty member of Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU), has been accepted into the 2024 Taiwan Experience Education Program (TEEP) and is currently in Taiwan to join the Haptics-Enhanced Assistive Device Training and Research Program at the Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology.
Led by Dr. Raymond Aaron See, the program aims to design and develop haptic-enhanced assistive devices for use in visually impaired and blind teaching and vocational training, medical training, industrial training, and advanced display technologies. The program will implement a hands-on, learning-by-doing approach with the goal of developing a prototype that the interns can bring to their home countries for further development and deployment in local communicaties.
The Taiwan Experience Education Program (TEEP), launched in 2015, offers opportunities for international students to participate in short-term professional internship projects implemented by Taiwanese universities and colleges. From Information Communication Technology (ICT) to Smart Health Care, the program provides a wide spectrum of educational opportunities.
Mr. Simo’s participation in the TEEP, which runs until August 31, 2024, opens doors to opportunities for DOrSU to establish collaboration with STUST. DOrSU also looks forward to initiating assistive technology research that contributes to societal development and fosters an inclusive society, thereby advancing its regenerative futures vision.
