The Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU), through its University Research Complex (UResCom), is exploring collaboration with AG Pacific Nutriceuticals Corporation to transform Almaciga essential oils from Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental, into market-ready products.
The initiative forms part of the ongoing DOST-PCIEERD-funded project βOptimization of Essential Oil Extraction from Aged Almaciga (Agathis philippinensis) Resin Through Supercritical Fluid Technique: An Initial Step Towards Product Valorization,β led by Dr. Janeth C. Tayone.
In a knowledge exchange session, the DOrSU research team presented its findings to AG Pacific Nutriceuticals, a manufacturer of personal care products such as body soaps, liniments, and balms. Operations Manager Engr. Lucila N. Geneston expressed interest in Almaciga oils as a high-value ingredient for product innovation.
Following the discussion, Engr. Geneston invited the team to visit the companyβs production plant in Padada, Davao del Sur, on September 16, 2025, to explore collaboration in research funding, product development, and commercialization.
The engagement was facilitated by Dr. Marc Francis M. Labata, Science and Technology Fellow of DOST-PCIEERD, together with UResCom Supervisor Dr. Wilanfranco C. Tayone, who both underscored the importance of linking academic research with industry demands.
Forging industry partnerships remains central to DOrSUβs mission to translate research into innovations that generate jobs and strengthen local industries. With the recent initiative, the University moves from lab breakthroughs to scalable applications, aligning science with market demand and delivering tangible benefits across Davao Oriental.
