𝐃𝐎𝐫𝐒𝐔 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐎𝐮𝐭 𝐏𝐬𝐲𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐀𝐁𝐒-𝐂𝐁𝐍 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) has begun implementing its psychosocial support program today, November 28, 2025, for healthcare workers affected by the recent doublet earthquake, with strong backing from the ABS-CBN Foundation.
The initiative, titled “Kalig-On: MHPSS Debriefing, Self-Care Support, and Capacity-Building for Healthcare Workers in Davao Oriental,” provides structured debriefing sessions, culturally grounded self-care practices, and capacity-building activities for frontline medical personnel who experienced emotional and physical strain during the disaster.
DOrSU confirmed that the program is made possible through funding support from the ABS-CBN Foundation, in partnership with the Diocese of Mati – Commission on Health. The foundation’s contribution enabled the university to mobilize trained facilitators and deliver evidence-based Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) interventions across affected communities.
Project lead Dr. Rose Anelyn V. Ceniza said the program is anchored in evidence-based strategies tailored to Davao Oriental’s local context to ensure that healthcare workers receive culturally sensitive and sustainable psychosocial care.
The rollout also builds on an existing Memorandum of Agreement between DOrSU and the Diocese of Mati under the Kalig-On Community-Based MHPSS Program.
DOrSU, led by President Dr. Roy G. Ponce, emphasized that support from the ABS-CBN Foundation strengthens the university’s ongoing mission of responsive community service, particularly in times of crisis, and reinforces the importance of psychosocial recovery for frontline workers.
