The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Davao Oriental and Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on April 2, 2025, at the DOrSU Boardroom to establish the Local Governance Provincial Resource Center (LGPRC).
The LGPRC will serve as a central facility for governance-related information, providing training, research, and resources for local government units (LGUs), policymakers, and researchers. The center aims to improve local governance through knowledge-sharing and development programs.
DILG Provincial Director Orle A. Cabaobao emphasized the significance of the partnership in enhancing governance practices. âThis is an important step in helping LGUs become self-reliant through knowledge exchange and training,â he said.
To oversee its initiatives, the agreement establishes the Multi-Stakeholders Advisory Committee (MSAC), which includes government offices, national agencies, and community organizations. The committee will guide policies and oversee the centerâs programs.
DILG Davao Oriental will monitor the resource centerâs progress, manage governance data, and ensure policy alignment. DOrSU will provide research support, training, and space for materials. Other agencies, including the Vice Governorâs Office and the Department of Education, will support the initiative by sharing governance knowledge and resources.
The LGPRC is expected to improve governance transparency and promote best practices in local governance. The MOA reflects a shared commitment to better public service and continuous learning. (DOrSU PIO)
