DOrSU gets five-star rating in DOE energy compliance check

Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) earned a five-star (95%) compliance rating from the Department of Energy (DOE) during a Government Energy Management Program (GEMP) spot check on April 29, 2026, at the DOrSU Main Campus in Guang-guang, City of Mati.
The assessment was conducted by DOE auditors Adrian Mel B. Delola and Arianne Joy M. Monterde to check the university’s compliance with government energy efficiency and conservation requirements covering electricity use, fuel consumption, reporting systems, and equipment inventories.
The evaluation reviewed the university’s designation of Energy Efficiency and Conservation officers and focal persons, issuance of internal policies on electricity and fuel conservation, and use of the GEMP online system for monitoring and reporting energy consumption.
The DOE team also checked the implementation of electricity conservation measures, including the use of inverter-type air-conditioning units, thermostat settings, operating hours for air-conditioning units, maintenance of equipment, use of LED lighting, and regulated elevator use.
Fuel-saving measures were also assessed, including the regular checking and preventive maintenance of service vehicles, documentation of trips and fuel use, and driver awareness of fuel conservation practices.
DOrSU’s electrical team, frontlined by Engr. Jayson Rey P. Jael and Engr. Kimberly B. Amoguis, assisted in the spot check and provided the necessary records and technical inputs during the assessment.
The DOE auditors noted recommendations for continued compliance, including regular updating of inventories, review of operating hours based on DOE guidance, consistency in implementing memoranda, and consideration of electric vehicles in future procurement planning.
For DOrSU, the commendable evaluation result reflects ongoing efforts to translate its regenerative futures vision into practice through energy efficiency, fuel conservation, and responsible resource management.
