DOrSU faculty facilitates FunEBall breakout session at 2026 IPEC

Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) faculty member Dr. Arvin A. Andacao served as one of the facilitators of “FunEBall in Action: Innovative Game-Based Strategies for Engaging and Active PE Classes,” one of the breakout sessions during the 2026 International Physical Education Convention held from May 5 to 9, 2026, in Davao City.
The five-day convention was organized by 1PhysEd.Ph and co-hosted by the University of Southeastern Philippines and Lyceum of the Philippines University–Davao, bringing together physical education teachers, researchers, practitioners, and advocates to discuss emerging trends, pedagogical innovations, and research-based practices in physical education.
Dr. Andacao facilitated the session alongside Dr. Eung-Soo Oh, professor at Dong-A University in South Korea, inventor and founder of FunEBall, and Dr. Ruben Tagare Jr. of the University of Southern Mindanao.
The breakout session introduced participants to FunEBall as an inclusive and game-based approach to physical education instruction. Designed to promote cooperation, maximum participation, and enjoyment, FunEBall provides PE teachers with practical strategies to encourage movement, teamwork, and active engagement among learners with varying skill levels.
DOrSU is among the first institutions in the country where FunEBall was introduced. In 2025, the University welcomed Dr. Oh, Professor at Dong-A University and Chairperson of the Korea FunEBall Association, Republic of Korea, for the ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, marking an important step in the University’s continuing engagement with international partners in physical education, wellness, and sports innovation.
Apart from facilitating the breakout session, Dr. Andacao also presented the research titled “Augmented Reality Immersion as a Mediator between Physical Activity Attitude and Depression, Anxiety, Stress among Youth,” co-authored with Arianne Michael Sim M. Tuano, Hazel Joyce M. Cariaga, Dr. Leonard Sydrick H. Pajo, Pink Floyd M. Boyles, Rey L. Rabuya, and Prof. Naoki Suzuki. The presentation highlighted the growing relevance of technology-assisted learning and physical activity research in addressing youth well-being and mental health concerns.
Through Dr. Andacao’s participation in the international convention, DOrSU further strengthened its presence in academic and professional discussions on innovative physical education, inclusive sports, and research-driven approaches to student wellness. The engagement also reflects the University’s continuing efforts to advance instruction, research, and international collaboration in support of holistic and active learning.
