DOrSU Joins QS Higher Ed Summit in Bali, Indonesia

Building on its growing international presence, Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) has joined university leaders and higher education experts from across the Asia-Pacific region at the QS Higher Ed Summit: Asia Pacific 2026, taking place on November 3–5 in Bali, Indonesia.
Representing DOrSU are Dr. Lilibeth S. Galvez, Vice President for Global Affairs and Strategic Operations; Dr. Edito B. Sumile, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Roy M. Padilla, Vice President for Administration and Finance; and Dionese Cecille L. Catubig, Quality Assurance Director.
The summit, themed “Advancing Education for Purpose and Impact,” convenes more than 1,000 academics, policymakers, university executives, and industry representatives to exchange perspectives on the changing landscape of higher education. Discussions cover international partnerships, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, student mobility, and institutional excellence.
The participation of DOrSU officials comes at a time when the University is gaining wider international recognition. In 2026, DOrSU achieved several international milestones, including its debut in the Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Ratings, recognition across multiple categories of the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI), and a place among the top eight finalists for Research Project of the Year – STEM at the THE Awards Asia.
Apart from these recognitions, DOrSU has expanded its international academic partnerships, strengthened faculty and student mobility initiatives, and participated in Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) programs, providing more opportunities for international academic exchange.
The summit is particularly relevant to the University’s GROWTH 2029 strategic framework, which prioritizes globalization, research excellence and innovation, quality assurance, and digital transformation. The discussions and exchanges in Bali offer the DOrSU delegation opportunities to examine practices adopted by other universities and consider their application to the University’s academic programs, institutional systems, and internationalization initiatives.
DOrSU’s participation also forms part of its pursuit of the regenerative futures vision, which seeks to position the institution as a regenerative futures university in the Asia-Pacific region. Under this vision, internationalization extends beyond institutional recognition and partnerships to include the application of knowledge, research, and innovation in addressing the needs of communities and the environment.
Through its participation in the summit, DOrSU continues to pursue international opportunities that can support its academic priorities and contribute to the University’s long-term development goals.
