DOrSU, MASCTODA renew transport agreement

To sustain safe and reliable transportation services for its academic community, Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) renewed its partnership with the Mati State College Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (MASCTODA) through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed on September 16 at the University Boardroom of DOrSU Main Campus.

The ceremonial signing was led by University President Dr. Roy G. Ponce and MASCTODA President Romel Benito Matapid, representing DOrSU and MASCTODA, respectively.

The two-year pact covers transportation services between the DOrSU Main Campus and the DOrSU–Marfori Demonstration Farm. Under the agreement, MASCTODA will maintain adequate transport services along the Main Campus–Marfori route, with additional units to be deployed during peak class hours and other periods of high demand. The association will also ensure that participating vehicles are roadworthy and properly authorized, while drivers are required to hold valid licenses and comply with traffic, safety, and passenger welfare regulations.

The renewed partnership also strengthens provisions for accessibility, including reasonable assistance and designated pick-up and drop-off arrangements for persons with disabilities and other members of the DOrSU community with mobility needs. DOrSU, meanwhile, will designate loading and unloading areas, coordinate transportation requirements, and work with MASCTODA in monitoring service concerns.

A joint monitoring mechanism will oversee the implementation of the agreement, assess transportation demand and service adequacy, and address operational concerns.

The renewed arrangement continues DOrSU’s coordination with local transport providers to support the daily movement of students and personnel between its Main and Marfori campuses.

Representatives of MASCTODA joined the ceremonial signing, along with Loui Jay Rhean C. Ponce, University Student Council President, and DOrSU officials, including Dr. Roy M. Padilla, Vice President for Finance and Administration; Dr. Evangeline R. Rivera, Director for Student Affairs and Services; Mr. Diego P. Tan, Chief Administrative Officer for Administration – OIC; and Mr. Felipe Jr. M. Cergas, Head of the Office of Student Affairs.
