DOrSU Research Projects Undergo DOST-PCIEERD Equipment, Financial Monitoring
Two research projects of Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU), funded by the Department of Science and Technology–Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD), underwent equipment inventory and financial monitoring from August 26 to 28, 2026.
The three-day activity covered two DOST-PCIEERD Grants-in-Aid (GIA)-funded projects: the Establishment of Natural Products Development Laboratory: A Future-Proofing Intervention for the Agro-Industrial Sector and the Optimization of Essential Oil Extraction from Aged Almaciga (Agathis philippinensis) Resin through Supercritical Fluid Technique: An Initial Step Towards Product Valorization.
DOST-PCIEERD personnel, alongside the respective DOrSU project teams, conducted an equipment inventory and reviewed financial records, laboratory facilities, and supporting documents related to the projects’ implementation.
The standard monitoring activity is part of the agency’s oversight to ensure that government-funded equipment and resources are properly documented, accounted for, and utilized according to approved objectives. The assessment also evaluates how research investments are translating into tangible technologies and scientific work that support industry development.
The monitored projects serve distinct regional economic goals. The Natural Products Development Laboratory aims to boost the university’s research and development capacity to support the local agro-industrial sector. Meanwhile, the Almaciga project focuses on using supercritical fluid technology to optimize the extraction of essential oil from aged resin, laying the groundwork for higher-value product applications.
As DOrSU continues to strengthen its research capabilities, the University remains committed to the responsible management of externally funded projects and to sustaining partnerships with DOST-PCIEERD and other institutions in advancing research responsive to regional and national development priorities.
