Creative DOrSU exhibit draws crowds at Tagum career expo

A One Piece-inspired booth drew a steady stream of visitors to Davao Oriental State University’s exhibit during the Career Expo 2026 hosted by the Public Employment Services and Capability Development Services Office of the City Government of Tagum.
Held from March 3 to 5 at the City Hall Atrium in Tagum City, the three-day event gathered colleges and universities, technical-vocational institutions, national agencies, and local government offices in one venue for career and academic exploration.
DOrSU’s participation was spearheaded by the Office of Student Promotion, Admission, and Testing (OSPAT), led by Ms. Trishea Amor C. Jacobe. Joining the expo were Mr. Kevin E. Lorono and Ms. Isabel A. Rozal of OSPAT, along with Ms. Candy J. Martinez, head of the University’s Financial Aids and Scholarship Grants Office.
Blending well with the expo’s anime-themed atmosphere, the University’s booth stood out for its creative One Piece concept, which quickly caught the attention of student participants. More than 600 visitors were recorded at the booth over the course of the event, with many expressing interest in DOrSU’s academic programs, admission requirements, scholarships, and other student support services.
The strong turnout underscored the value of DOrSU’s presence in regional career events, where students gain direct access to information that can shape their higher education choices. With both admissions and scholarship personnel on site, the University was able to address practical questions on academic programs, enrollment pathways, and available financial assistance, while also introducing students to DOrSU’s distinct identity as a regenerative futures university—one that positions education not only as preparation for employment, but as a means of creating solutions for communities, ecosystems, and society.
For DOrSU, participation in the expo was more than a promotional activity. It became a strategic platform to connect with prospective students beyond Davao Oriental and to highlight the University’s growing role as a higher education institution of choice for learners across neighboring provinces. Through the years, DOrSU has continued to serve not only students from within the province, but also those from outside Davao Oriental who are drawn to its accessible and quality public higher education, as well as its emerging niche in regenerative, innovation-driven, and community-responsive learning.
