DOrSU gains strategic insights, linkages at Higher Education Summit 2026

Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) gained fresh policy perspectives and potential institutional linkages as University President Dr. Roy G. Ponce joined the Higher Education Summit (HES) 2026 held from March 10 to 12, 2026, at the SMX Convention Center Clark in Pampanga.
Convened by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the summit gathered leaders from state universities and colleges, local universities and colleges, and private higher education institutions across the country to discuss major concerns in Philippine higher education, including curriculum relevance, human capital development, and cross-sector collaboration.
The summit highlighted the ACHIEVE Agenda for 2025–2030, a framework intended to guide higher education institutions toward clearer priorities and stronger systems in the coming years. The agenda emphasizes expanded access, improved quality, and closer alignment of higher education with national needs.
At the university level, DOrSU is responding to these priorities through its G.R.O.W.T.H. 2029 framework, built around six pillars: Global Recognition, Research Excellence, Optimized Accreditation, World-Class Digital Transformation, Thriving Curriculum, and Holistic Development. The framework aligns the university’s direction with the ACHIEVE Agenda by strengthening quality assurance, research and innovation, digital governance, lifelong learning, and internationalization.
These directions carry practical value for DOrSU as it advances its mandate to serve communities in Davao Oriental and beyond, while pursuing its vision of becoming a regenerative futures university in the Asia-Pacific.
As the higher education sector moves toward stronger alignment with national development goals, DOrSU’s participation in the summit signaled its readiness to take part in that direction through policy-aware, partnership-driven, and community-responsive action.
