Another DOrSU Faculty Member Joins Exchange Teaching Program at Huaqiao University in China

Further advancing its internationalization efforts, Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) has sent Dr. Jovanie B. Garay to Huaqiao University in the People’s Republic of China as its second faculty exchange teacher, following the deployment of Dr. Nelson P. Pastolero last year.
Dr. Garay’s deployment continues DOrSU’s academic partnership with Huaqiao University and reflects the university’s sustained commitment to faculty mobility, global engagement, and cross-border collaboration. The exchange also further strengthens institutional ties between the two universities.
Last year, Dr. Pastolero became the first DOrSU faculty member sent to Huaqiao University under the short-term exchange program. Dr. Garay’s assignment builds on that milestone and reinforces DOrSU’s expanding presence in the international academic community.
A scholar with a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics, Dr. Garay brings to the post strong academic grounding in English language teaching, literature, and linguistics. His experience in teaching, research, and literary work positions him well to contribute to Huaqiao University’s English language instruction while also advancing DOrSU’s international linkages.
His engagement at Huaqiao University will run until January 2027.
