DOrSU to lead study on healthcare workers’ mental health in Davao Oriental
Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) formalized a partnership today, August 26, at Honey’s Hotel, with the Provincial Government of Davao Oriental to launch a collaborative study on the mental health and professional quality of life of healthcare workers in the province.
The project, titled “Mental Health Status and Professional Quality of Life of the Men and Women in Healthcare: Basis for Mental Health Hospital Policy and Program,” will assess levels of anxiety, depression, and workplace stress experienced by frontliners, particularly in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.
DOrSU, through its Gender Research and Resource Center, will lead the research, with the Provincial Health Office providing logistical support and community coordination.
The findings will serve as the basis for developing institutional mental health support programs and policies in hospitals to ensure that those who care for the sick also receive the care they need.
Provincial Governor Nelson Dayanghirang welcomed the partnership.
In the long run, the collaboration is expected to build a stronger support system for healthcare professionals in Davao Oriental by shaping culture-based mental health policies and practical interventions. (DOrSU PIO)
