Hiroshima University Professor Educates DOrSU Students on Harassment Issues

Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) hosted Associate Professor Hiromi Yamauchi of Hiroshima University, Japan, for a guest lecture on harassment awareness today, March 13, 2025, at the FaCET Extension Building. The lecture, attended by the Bachelor of Science in Psychology (BS Psychology) students from the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Communication (FHUSOCOM), focused on sexual harassment laws in the Philippines and Japan, gender harassment, and harassment based on sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI).
Professor Yamauchi also discussed Japan’s Penal Code on sexual offenses, the concept of sexual consent, and harassment issues in university settings. Beyond legal aspects, she provided insights into harassment consultations and explored career pathways for psychology graduates.
The event was organized under the KAHAYAG program, which promotes international knowledge exchange. It was facilitated by Dr. Rose Anelyn V. Ceniza, Director of the Tourism Information, Education and Communication Center (TIEC), in collaboration with the BS Psychology Program, the Global Affairs and International Relations Office (GAIRO), and the Center for Gender and Development (GAD).
During her visit, Professor Yamauchi also met with DOrSU President Dr. Roy G. Ponce to discuss potential academic collaborations.
