Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) bids farewell to Visiting Professor Dr. Georg Bastian, who has concluded a year of teaching today, December 19.
Dr. Bastian, a distinguished professor from Rhine-Waal University in Germany, joined DOrSU in August 2024 through the university’s internationalization and research initiatives spearheaded by President Dr. Roy G. Ponce and facilitated by the Global Affairs and International Relations Office under Dr. Lilibeth Galvez. With his extensive expertise in Environmental Science and Engineering, Dr. Bastian has been an invaluable addition to DOrSU’s faculty workforce.
During his tenure, Dr. Bastian taught Physics courses tailored to Environmental Science students. With a strong background in renewable energy and advanced scientific fields such as Optoelectronics, Thermoelectricity, Photonics, Solar Energy, and Materials Science, Dr. Bastian integrated real-world applications into his teaching, inspiring students to become innovative problem-solvers to address pressing environmental challenges. He also delivered impactful lectures, including his recent discussion on “The Limits of Stopping Global Warming,” which underscored the urgent need for sustainable energy transitions to combat climate change.
DOrSU expresses its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Bastian for his remarkable contributions and extends its best wishes as he continues his professional journey.
