DOrSU Delegates Join PCAP Convention for 2nd Criminology Profession Week Celebration

Delegates from Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) joined criminology professionals from across the country during the PCAP Constitutional Convention, held in celebration of the 2nd Philippine Criminology Profession Week 2025 and organized by the Professional Criminologists Association of the Philippines, Inc. (PCAP) on November 8–9, 2025, at the Golden Phoenix Hotel, Pasay City.
The DOrSU delegation was led by Dr. Rex S. Aparicio, Dean of the Faculty of Criminal Justice Education, together with faculty members Dr. Jeralyn N. Hemillan and Dr. Nonilito O. Carpio. The group represented the university in activities that brought together criminologists and educators from different regions to discuss developments in the field.
The event, held under Proclamation No. 397, centered on the ratification of PCAP’s Constitution and By-Laws as the Recognized Integrated Professional Organization (RIPO) under Republic Act No. 11131 or the Philippine Criminology Profession Act of 2018. The ratification marked an important step in unifying professional criminologists nationwide under one accredited organization.
The two-day convention also included plenary talks, workshops, and networking sessions that tackled professional ethics, leadership, and trends in criminology education and practice. Participants had the opportunity to share insights, exchange experiences, and build connections aimed at improving the profession’s standards and relevance.
For DOrSU, joining the event underscored its continuing support for national efforts to strengthen criminology education and professional practice. The knowledge and perspectives gained from the convention are expected to contribute to ongoing improvements in teaching, research, and community programs within the university’s Faculty of Criminal Justice Education.
By taking part in the 2nd Philippine Criminology Profession Week, DOrSU reaffirmed its commitment to the shared goals of PCAP and the criminology community—promoting professional growth, ethical service, and a unified pursuit of justice and peace.
