DOST-PCIEERD Assesses DOrSU’s IDP-Funded Research Facility
The Department of Science and Technology–Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development(DOST–PCIEERD), through Science and Technology (S&T) Fellow Dr. Marc Francis M. Labata, conducted an on-site assessment of Davao Oriental State University’s (DOrSU) IDP-funded Natural Products Development Laboratory on September 15, 2025.
The visit focused on evaluating the project “Establishment of Natural Products Development Laboratory: A Future-Proofing Intervention for the Agro-Industrial Sector,” led by Dr. Wilanfranco C. Tayone. The activity included facility inspection, consultations on future research and development directions, inputs to improve the DOST–IDP, and discussions with university officials on how the initiative has enhanced research capacity and institutional development.
As part of the engagement, Dr. Labata paid a courtesy call on the Office of the University President. OIC-President Dr. Roy M. Padilla reaffirmed DOrSU’s commitment to optimize the use of government-funded facilities and to sustain partnerships that advance innovation and regional development.
Dr. Tayone, University Research Complex (UResCom) Supervisor and Project Leader, said the monitoring visit not only validated their efforts in managing research support but also motivated the team to pursue larger-scale initiatives. He expressed gratitude to DOST-PCIEERD, emphasizing that the agency’s guidance has been instrumental in strengthening UResCom’s research endeavors.
Following the assessment, Dr. Labata noted that the results of the visit are being finalized for submission to DOST-PCIEERD, subject to the agency’s review.
