Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) officially opened its Online AACCUP Accreditation Survey Visit on August 6, 2025, signaling its continued commitment to academic quality and institutional growth. The accreditation survey, which runs until August 8, covers two academic programs from the Main Campus: the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and the Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
In his welcome message, Dr. Romeo J. Redulla framed accreditation as both an external validation and an inward commitment. He affirmed that DOrSU is ready and willing to learn from the process. “We are open to knowing which areas we need to improve, and we hope to work in harmony with the assistance of our motivated accreditors.”
The Survey Team from the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, Inc. (AACCUP) is composed of respected experts in their fields. Leading the BS in Environmental Science evaluation is Dr. Yolina T. Castañeto of Nueva Vizcaya State University, a forestry specialist with a long track record in research and ecological conservation. She is joined by Dr. Ruth C. Cordero from President Ramon Magsaysay State University, whose academic work focuses on environmental sustainability and resource management. Supporting the team is Prof. Roberto Rodel R. Gonzalez of Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology, an active leader in the field of library and information science.
For the BS in Nursing program, the survey is headed by Assoc. Prof. Marvin P. Plata of Marinduque State University, who also serves as AACCUP Overall Coordinator. Delivering the statement of purpose, Assoc. Prof. Plata reminded everyone that accreditation is not merely an event, but a way of life in academic institutions. “Every day must be an accreditation day,” he said. Quoting a well-known principle in quality assurance, he added, “Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution.” He also underscored the role of accreditors not as inspectors, but as collaborators. “Our job is to serve as your mirror—to reflect, assess, and assist SUCs in improving their services toward quality and excellence.”
Closing the ceremony, Dr. Venson Sarita encouraged the university community to see accreditation as an opportunity for learning and institutional reflection. “May this accreditation process not be seen as a mere requirement, but as a journey that sharpens our purpose of producing quality graduates,” he said.
With the guidance of seasoned AACCUP accreditors and the resolve of DOrSU’s leadership team, the university enters this AACCUP survey visit with openness, confidence, and a shared goal: to uphold and advance the quality of its academic programs in service of future generations.
