The DOrSU’s 120-day Feeding Program for 0-59-month-old children has successfully combated malnutrition in Boston, Davao Oriental, according to Amy B. Monredondo, Municipality of Boston Federated President of Rural Improvement Club and Nutrition Action Officer. This information was shared during the meeting on December 20, 2023, at the Municipal Mayor’s office, where Dr. Misael B. Clapano, DOrSU Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension (VP RIE), DOST Provincial Director Sharon M. Alegado, midwives, Brgy. Nutrition Scholars (BNS) led by Dr. Al Raymond D. Tupas, and Executive Assistant Mr. Judith B. Castres were present.
“The 120-day initiative, which commenced on September 5, 2023, transformed undernourished students to a normal nutritional status,” Ms. Monredondo added.
Community leaders, including Executive Assistant Judith B. Castres, have applauded the results and recommended continuing DOrSU’s efforts throughout Davao Oriental.
Additionally, VP RIE highlighted key aspects, including five entry points of DOST’s CEST Program, which this activity falls under one of its entry points, Health and Nutrition.
Looking to the future, DOrSU, in collaboration with DOST, aims to initiate a Banana Chipping Machine project with a 25k starting capital, fostering economic livelihood for women while addressing nutritional needs.
