Dugong
Scientific Name: Dugong dugon
The dugong is one of four species of the order Sirenia, a group of marine mammals are strictly herbivorous meaning they eat only plants. They’re a tropical to sub-tropical species found in 37 different countries
Unfortunately, these languid animals make an easy target for coastal hunters, and they were long sought for their meat, oil, skin, bones, and teeth. Dugongs are now legally protected throughout their range, but their populations are still in a tenuous state
