The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) have provided STARBOOKS to 12 elementary schools and two high schools in DepEd Boston, Davao Oriental, on December 20.
Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly-Operated KioskS (STARBOOKS) is a “digital library in a box that functions as a comprehensive repository of educational materials,” according to DOST Provincial Director Sharon M. Alegado. “This initiative aims to bridge the gap in access to information, particularly in science and technology,” Director Alegado added.
Furthermore, the training sessions conducted by DOrSU and DOST equipped IT coordinators and school heads with the skills for effective STARBOOKS operation.
Additionally, representatives from 14 schools of DepEd Boston signed a Memorandum of Agreement with DOST and DOrSU on releasing STARBOOKS units.
Infusing STARBOOKS into DepEd schools in Boston helps students and teachers for more interactive and technology-driven education.
This project is implemented by DOrSU led by Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension Dr. Misael B. Clapano. (DOrSU PIO)
