95 DOrSU nursing students mark completion of clinical training in graduation rites

Ninety-five Bachelor of Science in Nursing students of Davao Oriental State University marked the completion of their clinical training during the Clinical Graduation Ceremony held June 10, 2026, at Honey’s Hotel–The Grand Ballroom, City of Mati.
The ceremony recognized the BS Nursing Class of 2026, Batch Praestantia, under the theme “Honoring the Journey, Embracing the Mission to Serve.”
Dr. Michelle Suzanne L. Tabotabo, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences, presented the clinical graduates, who were later proclaimed by Dr. Roy M. Padilla, Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the University President.
Dr. Padilla, Vice President for Administration and Finance, also delivered the message on behalf of University President Dr. Roy G. Ponce. He congratulated the students, parents, guardians, and loved ones, and urged the clinical graduates to carry the values of service, responsibility, and resilience as they continue their formation as future nurses.
He also linked the students’ future role in healthcare to the University’s regenerative futures vision, noting the role of nurses in helping build healthier, safer, and more responsive communities.
The program included the pinning ceremony, where the students were escorted by their parents and loved ones. The ceremony marked the students’ completion of clinical training and their continuing transition from classroom and hospital-based learning toward professional practice. It also recognized the role of families in supporting the students through the demands of nursing education.
Students who excelled in various clinical areas were also recognized, along with recipients of special awards.
The awardees were Sophia Elaine D. Serra, Best in Psychiatric Nursing; Cedei Eliaga, Best in Practicing Clinical Instructor; Milane R. Leones, Best in Geriatric Nursing; Eugene L. Gerona, Best in Disaster Nursing; Jespher G. Palen, Best in Delivery Room Nursing; Jenerose D. Dante, Best in Perioperative Nursing; Rachelle Mae B. Kaparaz, Best in Community Health Nursing; Reimman Sam M. Valdez, Best in Medical Nursing; Christian Roseller Esperat, Best in Surgical Nursing; Mishaira P. Dimaokom, Best in Pediatric Nursing; Judy M. Sabillo, Best in Maternal and Child Nursing; Kenneth John A. Berja, Best in Emergency Nursing; and Ronielyn P. Lanaban, Best in General Ward Nursing.
Kyla R. Comoso received the Florence Nightingale Award, while Francis John Loise P. Allas received the Outstanding Student Nurse Leader Award.
The clinical graduation formed part of the students’ preparation for professional nursing practice and reflected DOrSU’s continuing work to train nurses equipped to serve individuals, families, and communities.
