DOrSU recognizes 2026 Presidential Awardees for research, innovation, extension accomplishments

Davao Oriental State University recognized faculty and staff members whose 2025 accomplishments contributed to the University’s growing body of work in research, innovation, intellectual property, extension, and literary production.
The 2026 Presidential Awards were conferred during the 5th Founding Anniversary Program held on May 28, 2026, at the University Grounds, DOrSU Main Campus.
University President Dr. Roy G. Ponce led the conferment of awards, together with Dr. Emily S. Antonio, Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension; President Emeritus Dr. Edito B. Sumile, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Roy M. Padilla, Vice President for Administration and Finance; and Dr. Lilibeth S. Galvez, Vice President for Global Affairs and Strategic Operations.
The recognition highlighted the work of DOrSU personnel who published scholarly outputs, secured funded grants, filed intellectual property applications, registered copyrighted works, implemented extension services, and produced literary contributions in 2025.
Under the Presidential Award for Outstanding Grantees, the University recognized personnel who secured funded grants for research, innovation, and extension programs and projects. Bronze was given to grantees with one funded RIE grant, Silver to those with two funded grants, and Gold to those with three funded grants. For 2026, DOrSU recognized 10 Bronze, four Silver, and three Gold awardees in this category.
For the Presidential Award for Outstanding Researchers, DOrSU honored faculty and staff whose research articles, review papers, notes, and other scholarly works were published in refereed and reputable journals. Bronze was awarded for one publication, Silver for three publications, Gold for five publications, and Platinum for 10 publications. The University recognized 57 Bronze, 14 Silver, six Gold, and three Platinum awardees.
The University also recognized contributions to intellectual property development through the Presidential Award for Patent Applications, with four Bronze and two Silver awardees; the Presidential Award for Copyright Registration, with nine Bronze, two Silver, and one Platinum awardee; and the Presidential Award for Industrial Design Applications, with one Bronze and two Gold awardees. These recognitions underscore the role of innovation, creativity, and knowledge protection in advancing DOrSU’s research and development agenda.
For extension service, the University conferred awards to 36 Bronze, 37 Silver, 89 Gold, and 57 Platinum awardees. The recognition honors personnel who implemented extension programs and activities responsive to the needs of communities, industries, agencies, and partner institutions.
DOrSU also recognized five recipients of the Presidential Award for Outstanding Literary Writers, acknowledging creative and literary contributions that enrich the University’s intellectual and cultural life.
The Presidential Awards formed part of the University’s anniversary celebration, which highlighted not only institutional milestones but also the work of the people behind DOrSU’s continuing growth. Through the awards, the University affirmed the value of research, innovation, extension, and creative work as essential contributions to its mandate as a public higher education institution.
