The three-day Internal Quality Audit (IQA) and 7S Evaluation of Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) officially kicked off on July 15, 2025. Spearheaded by the Quality Management System (QMS) Office, the activity opened with a virtual meeting held via Zoom, bringing together key university officials, process owners, unit and office heads, and the designated teams of internal evaluators.
In his opening message, Dr. Roy M. Padilla, Vice President for Administration and Finance, underscored the significance of maintaining a strong quality management culture across the university.
“QMS is a commitment—a culture that we uphold in our operations and services. This is a crucial part of our internationalization efforts,” Dr. Padilla emphasized, pointing out how quality assurance anchors DOrSU’s pursuit of continuous improvement and global competitiveness.
The Internal Quality Audit serves as a vital internal mechanism to evaluate compliance with documented processes, assess the effectiveness of the QMS, and identify opportunities for institutional growth. It ensures that all units and offices are aligned with the university’s strategic goals, ISO standards, and client satisfaction benchmarks.
The IQA Team is composed of Maria Michele O. Chatto, Dr. Marites S. Erespe, Dr. Imelda A. Leal, Dachel April L. Salimaco, Mizraime M. Lanaban, Errole A. Maxey, Felipe Jr. M. Cergas, Maria Linel B. Talamera, Marites S. Cergas, Resty N. Apilan, Estela Marie Librea, Jennifer D. Amora, Philip A. Salimaco, Marl C. Morales, Sophia Nadenn A. Aguilar, Gwendolyn Babes P. Villo, Luzzele Pearl L. Serrano, Rajiv Mikael T. Dalagan, Jay T. Relatado, Shai Rose Q. Odarve, Lilibeth N. Cuaki, Maria Kiesha Mercado, and Mark C. Angeles, under the leadership of Asst. Prof. Nikka A. Singh.
Simultaneously, the 7S Evaluation was rolled out to assess workplace organization and uphold efficiency through the principles of Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, Safety, and Spirit.
Dr. Padilla drew a meaningful parallel between the 7S methodology and simple daily routines. “7S is part of our daily life—it keeps us productive, just like how we fix our beddings every morning when we wake up. It brings order and discipline that ultimately improve our efficiency,” he remarked, encouraging full cooperation and participation throughout the activity.
The 7S Evaluation Team is composed of Neil A. Mutia, Divine Grace M. Lozano, Ruel G. Campo, Jovelito D. Dora, Dr. Edna Bagcal, Mellisa Esperanza, Fely A. Jimenez, John Lloyd D. Flores, Jennifer C. Costan, Daisy Morala, Oienjoy T. Beldineza, Chariveb D. Villanueva, and Apple Jay D. Pleños, led by Team Leader Petter James C. Benaldo.
This semi-annual IQA and 7S Evaluation aims to foster a culture of accountability, enhance service delivery, and ensure that the university’s systems and physical environments meet institutional and international standards. The activity is being conducted in close coordination with the QMS Office, under the guidance of QMS Coordinator Dionese Cecil L. Catubig, and will run until July 17, 2025, covering all campuses of Davao Oriental State University.
