𝗗𝗢𝗿𝗦𝗨 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁-𝗡𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗳𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆
93 students in the nursing program of the Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) marked the halfway point of their journey with a tradition-rich Capping, Pinning, and Candle Lighting Ceremony held at Honey’s Hotel in Matiao, City of Mati, Davao Oriental, today, February 7, 2024.
The ceremony was graced with the presence of DOrSU President Dr. Roy G. Ponce, along with Vice Presidents Dr. Cheryll L. Bautista and Dr. Roy M. Padilla, FNAHS Dean Dr. Michelle Suzzane L. Tabotabo, Graduate School Coordinator Dr. Gemma M. Valdez, and other esteemed guests.
In his address, President Ponce emphasized the privilege of being part of the Nursing program, highlighting the university’s unique offering in the Davao region. He underscored the primary goal of serving the country, families, relatives, and oneself, emphasizing that this goal is not just an outcome but a result of a rigorous process and alignment of identity with the nursing profession.
Dr. Ponce commended the students for their dedication and hard work, reminding them that success in their studies will naturally follow if they embody the characteristics of a nurse and prioritize human well-being. He expressed gratitude to the parents for their role in molding the students into compassionate healthcare providers.
Additionally, the guest speaker, Ninolito N. Ocon, RN, LPT, urged the newly pinned nurses to recognize the responsibility they now carry and to let their caps and pins serve as constant reminders of their commitment to the well-being of others.
The newly pinned and capped student nurses will be deployed in the university’s partner hospitals: Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center, St. Camillus Hospital, and Davao Regional Medical Center. (DOrSU PIO)
