DOrSU faculty-researchers join 2026 NRCP scientific conference; Dr. Cabrera inducted as Regular Member

Eight faculty-researchers from Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) joined the 2026 Annual Scientific Conference and 93rd General Membership Assembly of the Department of Science and Technology–National Research Council of the Philippines (DOST-NRCP) on March 13, 2026, at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.
Representing DOrSU were Dr. Jonathan S. Cabrera, Dr. Arvin A. Andacao, Dr. Mary Fil M. Bauyot, Dr. Jeralyn N. Hemillan, Dr. Lanie B. Laureano, Asst. Prof. Venson B. Sarita, Asst. Prof. Robie V. Catubigan, and Asst. Prof. Marisa Langoban.
During the assembly, Dr. Cabrera was inducted as a Regular Member, raising DOrSU’s total number of regular NRCP members to four. He now joins Dr. Edison Roi D. Macusi, Dr. Milton Norman D. Medina, and Assoc. Prof. Jhonnel P. Villegas in the university’s roster of regular members. DOrSU also has 26 associate members in the council.
This marks another milestone in DOrSU’s growing presence in the national research community. Membership in the NRCP recognizes active engagement in research and scholarship and places faculty-researchers within a wider network of scientists, scholars, and experts across the country. For the university, this strengthens opportunities for collaboration, professional exchange, and participation in research initiatives that can further enhance its academic and scientific work.
This year’s conference carried the theme, “Transdisciplinary Capacity Building and Ethical Research towards a Progressive, Unified, SDG-Driven Nation,” highlighting the role of collaboration across disciplines and the importance of research anchored on ethics and national development goals.
For DOrSU, the participation of its faculty-researchers in the annual assembly underscores the university’s continuing efforts to deepen its research culture and expand its contribution to knowledge production and innovation. With more of its faculty represented in the NRCP, the university further reinforces its role in advancing research that is relevant, credible, and responsive to the needs of communities and the nation.
