DOrSU explores partnership with Teacher Lounge for international teaching placements, Special Needs Education upskilling

Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) held an exploratory meeting with Teacher Lounge on February 11, 2026, at the DOrSU Boardroom to discuss potential opportunities that could expand international pathways for education graduates, particularly in Special Education.
Led by Dr. Ligaya E. Avenida (Chief Advisory Officer), with Ms. Joy Del Rosario (General Manager) and Ms. Rexclyn Rose Loveres (PGTL Coordinator), Teacher Lounge introduced its partnership model with U.S. schools and walked DOrSU officials through the broad steps of its deployment support—covering preparation before departure, mentoring, leadership development, and continuing professional assistance for teachers once placed.
Beyond overseas placements, the meeting also explored a possible master’s program in Special Education and related fields, with the Fund for Assistance to Private Education (FAPE) identified as a potential partner that could provide qualified faculty members for specialized graduate courses.
Present during the meeting were Dr. Roy M. Padilla, representing University President Dr. Roy G. Ponce, together with Dr. Lilibeth S. Galvez (Vice President for Global Affairs and Strategic Operations for Excellence), Dr. Gemma M. Valdez (Dean, Faculty of Advanced and International Studies), Dr. Jocelyn C. Arles (Dean, Faculty for Teacher Education), Mr. Robie V. Catubigan (BSNEd Program Head), and other members of the BSNEd faculty.
Moving forward, Teacher Lounge will provide the necessary materials for the University’s review, after which DOrSU will assess the proposal in line with its academic standards and institutional policies before any next steps are taken.
As part of its GROWTH agenda, DOrSU remains committed to building partnerships that open wider horizons for its future educators, strengthening global exposure while deepening graduate-level preparation and competence.
