Nine DOrSU BSHM students set for Thailand internship

Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) held a send-off ceremony on January 23 for nine Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management students joining its Student Internship Abroad Program (SIAP). The group is DOrSU’s first batch bound for Thailand and its fourth set of interns deployed overseas after earlier cohorts were assigned to Malaysia.
The students—Neljan A. Ajang, Kristine Jane S. Basoc, Jessey May Baynosa, Jazzel Mia G. Berdos, Hersie A. Clarabal, Julyn Aida M. Gonzaga, Rhea Mae D. Lenoy, Angeline M. Salgado, and Lorrie Angel F. Telewik—are set to undergo on-the-job training at Beyond Resorts and Kata Group in Karon, Phuket, Thailand.
The internship, scheduled to run through mid-2026, pairs workplace training with cultural exposure. Under the internship agreement, the student-interns are set to receive shared accommodation, daily meals, basic medical insurance, and a monthly allowance of 10,000 Thai baht.
The Thailand deployment is part of DOrSU’s internationalization efforts and supports its thrust to develop globally competitive graduates through industry-based training that responds to both local and international workforce needs.
Parents and guardians of the student-interns attended the send-off ceremony. Also present were Dr. Roy G. Ponce, University President; Dr. Lilibeth S. Galvez, Vice President for Planning, Quality Assurance, Global Affairs, and Resource Generation; Dr. Evangeline R. Rivera, Director of Student Affairs and Services; Dr. Rizaldy V. Maypa, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Management; Mr. Renante M. Andrada, SIAP Coordinator and BSHM Program Head; and other faculty members of the BSHM program.
