Senator Pia Cayetano Backs DOrSU’s Regenerative Futures Agenda with ₱2M GAA Boost

Senator Pia S. Cayetano has secured a ₱2 million allocation under the FY 2026 General Appropriations Act (GAA) to expand Davao Oriental State University’s (DOrSU) futures thinking programs, projects, and initiatives, reinforcing the university’s push to position itself as a regenerative futures university in the Asia-Pacific by 2035.
The additional funding was carried into the FY 2026 spending plan through Cayetano’s stewardship during budget deliberations, with the senator advocating for the item’s inclusion as a direct support to DOrSU’s futures thinking and regenerative development agenda.
Since 2022, Cayetano has backed DOrSU’s futures thinking work through targeted budget support, a run of assistance that helped lay the groundwork for the establishment of the Center for Futures Thinking and Regenerative Development (CFTRD) in 2023. The Center has since served as DOrSU’s platform for capacity-building, research production, and public engagement tied to its regenerative futures direction.
The additional funding is expected to support ongoing programming and upcoming activities under CFTRD, including research, capacity-building efforts, and community-based conversations aimed at widening local adoption of futures thinking and regenerative development practices.
