The Academic Division of Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) gathered at Sea World Oasis Beach Resort, Pantukan, Davao de Oro, from November 10 to 12, 2025, for its Annual Year-End Planning and Team-Building Activity.
The three-day event, led by Vice President for Academic Affairs and President Emeritus Dr. Edito B. Sumile, brought together faculty and academic leaders to reflect on accomplishments, plan strategic directions for 2026, and strengthen unity across generations.
Highlights of the planning sessions included key presentations from Budget Officer Ms. Rhio D. Gallego, who discussed the FY 2026 Budget; Dr. Ray John A. Salimaco, who cascaded the MFO 2026; and Vice President for Planning, Quality Assurance, Global Affairs, and Resource Generation, Dr. Lilibeth S. Galvez, who presented Internationalization Gains and Opportunities. Dr. Galvez also highlighted the university’s current international partnerships and encouraged faculty members to explore potential collaborations with these global partners.
Participants likewise assessed the implementation of the 2025 Action Plan and collaborated in crafting the 2026 Action Plan to ensure alignment with DOrSU’s long-term vision of excellence, innovation, and inclusion. President Dr. Roy G. Ponce expressed strong support for the suggestions and recommendations discussed. In his message, he emphasized that the university’s success depends on the proactive engagement and shared commitment of all academic leaders, and he highlighted how this collective effort reinforces a positive and forward-looking vision for DOrSU’s continued growth.
Beyond planning, the activity took on a creative and reflective turn through a symbolic session titled “Harmonizing Generational Strengths Toward a Shared Vision,” presented by Dr. Rose Anelyn V. Ceniza and Dr. Maryfil M. Bauyot. Participants were grouped according to their years of service, ranging from long-serving pioneers to the university’s newest members. Each group shared defining experiences, values, and traditions that shaped their professional journeys within DOrSU.
The session culminated in a Mosaic Creation, where participants pressed their painted palms onto a shared canvas. Each handprint represented not just individual presence but a shared commitment to advancing the university’s goals under the GROWTH 2029 agenda.
As one reflection beautifully expressed, “Each generation carries a unique rhythm: some steady like tradition, others bold like innovation. But together, we form a symphony.” The activity underscored that inclusivity is more than kindness; it is a strategy—and through collaboration, the university unlocks its full potential.
Through shared stories and collective reflection, the DOrSU Academic Division reaffirmed its commitment to move forward together, united in vision for GROWTH 2029.
