Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) extended a ₱50,000 cash donation to Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) to assist communities affected by the recent doublet earthquakes that struck the province.
The virtual turnover ceremony, held on October 27, 2025, carried the theme “A Shared Commitment to Rebuild, Restore, and Rise Together.” The donation was raised through the collective contributions of SLSU’s faculty, staff, and students.
Representing SLSU at the ceremony were Dr. Francis Ann R. Sy, Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension Services; Ms. Adelfa C. Diola, Director for Extension Services; Engr. Emmanuel M. Cabanig, Head of Communications; and Dr. Marie Khul C. Langub, Vice President for Student Affairs and Services.
Receiving on behalf of DOrSU were Dr. Lanie B. Laureano, Director for Extension; Dr. Evangeline R. Rivera, Director for Student Affairs and Services; Ms. Djhoanna S. Mama, Head of the Office of Student Volunteerism and Community Engagement (OSVCE) and National Service Training Program (NSTP) Director; and Ms. Naxes Jee T. Cablinda, University Student Council President.
The donation is coursed through DOrSU’s OSVCE-led donation drive, which continues to mobilize relief and early-recovery support for the most affected communities.
DOrSU expresses gratitude to the SLSU community, headed by University President Dr. Jude A. Duarte, recognizing the timely and compassionate support as a testament to the spirit of solidarity among state universities and colleges in times of crisis.
