Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) participated in the 2025 Regional Dagyaw, held on August 5, 2025, in the Municipality of Banaybanay, Davao Oriental. The event, organized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region XI in partnership with the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) XI, the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), and the Local Government of Banaybanay, brought together more than 900 participants across the five provinces of the Davao Region.
With the theme “Bukas na Pamamahala: Susi sa Paglalakbay Tungo sa Pagkakaisa, Mapayapa, at Maunlad na Bayan”, the Dagyaw 2025 served as a dynamic platform for open dialogue between the government and the people, emphasizing transparency, participatory governance, and inclusive development.
Representing DOrSU were Dr. Roque N. Langcoy II, Chancellor for Satellite and Extension Campuses; Dr. Analie B. Nemenzo, Banaybanay Campus Administrator; and Dr. Lanie B. Laureano, Director for Research. The University played a vital role in the establishment of the first-ever Civil Society Organization (CSO) Academy in Davao Oriental and the entire Davao Region — a milestone achieved through the strong partnership between the LGU of Banaybanay, DILG, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and DOrSU Banaybanay Campus.
A key highlight of the event was the Talakayan session, which provided a meaningful space for the exchange of ideas and sharing of best practices. Banaybanay’s exemplary approach to CSO engagement was showcased, underscoring how empowered communities, in partnership with responsive institutions, can co-create sustainable and inclusive models of local governance.
Davao Oriental Provincial Governor Hon. Nelson L. Dayanghirang graced the event, along with other political leaders and local executives from various parts of the region. Key officials from the regional offices of DILG, PIA, and DBM also attended, adding to the collaborative spirit of the gathering.
Complementing the discussions was a Serbisyo Caravan, which brought government services directly to the people. These included medical consultations, free haircut services courtesy of the 66th Infantry Battalion, mobile services from the Land Transportation Office (LTO), TESDA programs, National ID and PhilHealth registration, and the Kadiwa ng Pangulo — a market showcasing Banaybanay’s homegrown products such as black rice and organic vegetables.
As a committed partner in community development and inclusive governance, DOrSU reaffirms its dedication to advancing local development through education, research, and active collaboration with government and civil society.
