DOrSU ROTC Maintains Strong Performance in 2025 RAATI
The Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) Unit of Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) upheld its strong track record by earning a commendable 93.33% rating during the 2025 Regional Annual Administrative and Tactical Inspection (RAATI) held on May 23, 2025, at the University Oval.
The inspection was spearheaded by COL Romeo N. Bautista III, INF (GSC) PA, the Assistant Division Commander for Reservist and Retirees Affairs of the 10th Infantry Division, Philippine Army. He led a ten-member evaluation team that thoroughly assessed the DOrSU ROTC Unit in various categories, including personnel management, tactical drills, military customs and courtesies, and disaster response preparedness.
DOrSU’s cadets showcased discipline, precision, and teamwork throughout the inspection. Among the highlights were the display of troop formations, ceremonial drills, and a demonstration of basic combat and emergency response techniques, clearly reflecting the cadets’ rigorous training and dedication.
In a message delivered by Dr. Roy Padilla, Vice President for Administration and Finance, on behalf of University President Dr. Roy G. Ponce, the significance of RAATI was underscored not just as a mandatory assessment but as an embodiment of the ROTC’s core values.
“This annual inspection is more than just a requirement—it represents our steadfast commitment to instilling discipline, fostering resilience, and ensuring the readiness of our ROTC cadets to serve the nation,” Dr. Padilla expressed.
DOrSU’s National Service Training Program (NSTP) Director Djhoanna S. Mama also highlighted the broader impact of RAATI, stating that the ROTC program goes hand-in-hand with the university’s goal of producing not only academically competent individuals but also citizens who are deeply rooted in patriotism and public service.
“The RAATI is a reflection of our continuous effort to mold students who are not only intellectually prepared but also socially responsible and nationally conscious,” she said.
The RAATI is conducted annually across the region to evaluate the administrative efficiency, tactical proficiency, and overall operational capability of ROTC units in higher education institutions. The assessment is crucial in upholding the standards of the ROTC program, ensuring that student cadets are well-equipped to respond to both civil and military duties.
DOrSU’s impressive performance this year affirms its unwavering commitment to holistic student development and excellence in service training. This achievement reinforces the university’s broader vision of producing globally competitive graduates who are dedicated to community development and national progress and supports its mission of building transformative leaders rooted in service, integrity, and resilience.
As DORSU continues to strengthen its ROTC program, the institution stands firm in its advocacy of nurturing disciplined, service-oriented individuals ready to serve both their communities and the nation.
