PNP Inspects UResCom: Advancing Safe and Regulated Chemical Use for Research

In line with national safety and regulatory protocols, the Philippine National Police (PNP) conducted a Security Survey Inspection at the University Research Complex (UResCom) of Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
The inspection was led by PSMS Requiem Masin and PSSg Eric John Zaspa of the Davao Oriental Police Provincial Office–Provincial Intelligence Unit (DOPPO–PIU). This activity forms part of the requirements for securing a Purchaser’s License and Permit for Controlled Chemicals.
During the visit, the PNP team assessed the laboratory’s capability to handle regulated substances, including an evaluation of the chemical storage area and implementation of safety measures.
The inspection was conducted thoroughly and in accordance with PNP protocols, ensuring UResCom’s compliance with national standards for the safe management of controlled chemicals.
This proactive step reflects DOrSU’s adherence to national safety protocols while advancing research that contributes to its niche of Regenerative Futures. The secure and responsible handling of controlled chemicals is vital for research efforts in environmental remediation, sustainable agriculture, and the development of eco-friendly products.
Under the leadership of University President Dr. Roy G. Ponce, DOrSU continues to integrate public safety with scientific innovation, laying the groundwork for a research environment that is both compliant and purpose-driven. The anticipated approval of the Purchaser’s License will open new avenues for research that support ecosystem regeneration, public health, and community resilience.
