DOrSU, Dong-A University Launch Partnership with FunEBall Sport

Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) welcomed Dr. Eung-Soo Oh, Professor at Dong-A University and Chairperson of the Korea FunEBall Association, Republic of Korea, for the ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on May 5 at the University Boardroom. Accompanying him was Mr. Gihwa Jang, Vice President of the Korea FunEBall Association. The event marked the beginning of a new academic partnership centered on FunEBall—a unique and inclusive sport developed by Dr. Oh.
FunEBall is designed to include everyone, no matter their skill level, including children, seniors, and differently abled individuals. The game makes physical activity fun and accessible for all. It promotes teamwork, skill development, and creativity, with rules that can be adjusted to fit different team sizes and skill levels.
In his speech, DOrSU President Dr. Roy G. Ponce said, “Including FunEBall in our programs fits perfectly with DOrSU’s vision of inclusion. This game not only promotes fitness but also teamwork, which is a key part of our academic mission.”
The signing of the MOU between DOrSU and Dong-A University marks the start of meaningful collaboration. The agreement facilitates faculty and student exchanges, joint research endeavors, and collaborative academic activities such as courses, seminars, and conferences, particularly in sports, arts, and physical education. The partnership was initiated through the DOrSU’s Physical Education program, led by its Program Head, Dr. Arvin A. Andacao.
Following the MOU signing, a FunEBall demonstration and actual game were held at the University Student Center. Students enthusiastically participated in the activity, discovering firsthand the fun, inclusive, and dynamic nature of the sport.
FunEBall has already gained popularity in countries like South Korea, Japan, Thailand, and the United States. Marshall University in the U.S. was one of the first to introduce it, receiving positive feedback from students and faculty. Through this partnership, DOrSU and DAU aim to promote cultural exchange, understanding, and long-term collaboration in education and research.
