DOrSU – Faculty Deans to Undergo Leadership Training Under UPLB’s HELM Fellowship

Four deans from Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) are set to participate in the Higher Education Leadership Mentoring Fellowship Program (HELMFP) at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB). The fellowship aims to strengthen their leadership and governance capabilities through immersion in UPLB’s academic and administrative processes.
Faculty Deans Dr. Gorjel E. Llanita, Dr. Rex S. Aparicio, Dr. Eleanor M. Vilela, and Dr. Helina Jean P. Dupa will engage in leadership training, working closely with UPLB’s top administrators to gain insights into university governance, academic management, and institutional development. They will also take part in policy discussions and observe decision-making processes to enhance their expertise in managing higher education institutions.
In addition to leadership training, the fellows will collaborate with UPLB research and extension units to develop academic programs and research initiatives that address regional and national challenges. The fellowship will also serve as a platform for strengthening institutional linkages, allowing participants to establish partnerships between their home institutions and UPLB for future collaborations in research, academic exchanges, and faculty development.
The program is expected to equip the deans with best practices in faculty mentoring, student services, curriculum development, and institutional reforms, which they will implement in their respective universities. Through the HELMFP, the fellows will play a key role in advancing the quality of higher education in the country. (DOrSU PIO)
