DOrSU FaCET Inks MOU with Silpakorn University, Joins Summer School in Thailand

The Faculty of Computing, Engineering, and Technology (FaCET) of Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) has expanded its international network through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Faculty of Science of Silpakorn University. The MOU was formally signed on February 19, 2025, at the Faculty of Science, Silpakorn University, Sanam Chandra Campus, Nakhon Pathom, Thailand.
The event was graced by key officials from both universities. Representing DOrSU were FaCET Dean Dr. Emmanuel B. Barbas, BS Mathematics Program Head Dr. Rodrigo A. Salimaco, Jr., and BS Mathematics faculty members Dr. Danilo O. Jacobe, Ms. Nikka Agbas-Singh, and Mr. Algasher B. Ato. Silpakorn University’s delegation included the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Dr. Narong Chimpalee; Assistant President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Pornsarp Pornsawad; Head of the Mathematics Department, Dr. Sawanya Sakuntasathien; Head of the Statistics Department, Dr. Prayad Sangngam; Associate Dean for Research and International Affairs, Dr. Panupum Limpachayaporn; Deputy Head for Information Technology and International Affairs, Dr. Chalermpong Worawannotai; and Mathematics Department faculty member, Dr. Susap Kirtsaeng.
The partnership aims to foster academic and research collaboration between the two universities. Through this MOU, both institutions commit to promoting faculty and staff exchanges for joint research projects, academic initiatives, and cultural activities and to facilitate the sharing of academic resources. The agreement also opens opportunities for dual degree programs, joint degree programs, and sandwich programs that will provide students with enhanced academic credentials and global perspectives, while fostering collaborative research and strengthening the academic standing of both universities. Another significant aspect of the partnership is the establishment of student exchange programs, allowing students to engage in study visits, research internships, and academic activities at both institutions.
Further reinforcing the collaboration, the DOrSU representatives participated in the Computational Science Summer School 2025 (CSSS2025) hosted by Silpakorn University from February 17 to February 21, 2025. The event provided an avenue for scholarly engagement, where Dr. Rodrigo A. Salimaco, Jr. shared his research through oral presentation, and Dr. Danilo O. Jacobe and Ms. Nikka Agbas-Singh contributed with poster presentations.
The collaboration between DOrSU and Silpakorn University is expected to bring mutual benefits in terms of academic growth, research advancements, and cross-cultural exchanges. The MOU marks a milestone in strengthening DOrSU’s global academic presence and highlights its commitment to fostering international partnerships. Moving forward, both institutions will continue to explore new avenues for collaboration, ensuring that their faculty, researchers, and students gain valuable international exposure and opportunities for academic enrichment.
