DOrSU Joins the Philippines National Soil Laboratory Network
Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) has officially been recognized as a member of the Philippine National Soil Laboratory Network (Phil NASOLAN). The certificate of membership was received by Dr. Janeth C. Tayone, representing DOrSU, during the 5th General Assembly of Phil NASOLAN held from November 6–8, 2024, at the Bendix Hotel in San Fernando, Pampanga.
As a member of this prestigious network, DOrSU has been awarded laboratory equipment crucial for soil and water analysis, courtesy of the Department of Agriculture–Bureau of Soils and Water Management (DA–BSWM). Furthermore, DOrSU now gains access to specialized training programs organized by the Bureau through Presidential Decree (PD) 1435. These programs are designed to equip members with advanced techniques in soil and water analysis, ensuring consistency in test results across laboratories nationwide.
The initiative was spearheaded by Dr. Gina Parde-Nilo, Director of BSWM and Chair of Phil NASOLAN. DOrSU is now among the 48 recognized soil laboratory partners under the State Universities and Colleges (SUCs)/Research and Extension Soil Laboratories (RESSL), specifically classified under Category 03.
This membership is a pivotal step for DOrSU in strengthening its soil and water research capabilities. It presents an opportunity to address significant environmental and agricultural challenges in Davao Oriental, benefiting both the university’s constituents and the wider community. The partnership further aligns with DOrSU’s ongoing commitment to advancing soil and environmental research, contributing to sustainable and regenerative futures. (DOrSU PIO)
