DOrSU Professor Milton Norman D. Medina and his team from the Natural Museum of History (Luxembourg) and Daugavpils University (Latvia) added two new species to science.
The first species is 𝘊𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘢 𝘤𝘢𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘦, named after Dr. Analyn Anzano Cabras, one of the founders of the Philippine Coleopterological Network (PhilColNet), for her significant contribution towards the advancement of beetle research and conservation in Philippines. On the other hand, the 𝘊𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘢 (𝘐𝘱𝘰𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘺𝘦𝘴) 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘣𝘰 is dedicated to the Manobo, a tribe habiting the island of Mindanao, Philippines.
The two new species are described in a paper titled “Catalog of the genus Cacia Newman (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae, Lamiinae)in the Philippines with description of two new species,” published in Zootaxa.
