DOrSU Leads Cooperative Month Culmination with Livelihood Programs for Taocanga, Manay
Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU), in celebration of Cooperative Month, organized a culmination program for the community of Taocanga, Manay, Davao Oriental. The event, led by the Cooperative Development Center (CDC), featured two livelihood-centered initiatives aimed at fostering sustainable growth and self-sufficiency among the Mandaya community members.
The first initiative, a Training on Coffee Production, was facilitated by faculty members from the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA) program. This training aimed to equip participants with essential skills in coffee cultivation, providing practical and technical guidance on best practices, from planting to harvesting.
The second initiative involved establishing a community association, the Kapunungan ng Mandaya sang Diomabok, spearheaded by the DOrSU Extension Office led by Dr. Mary Fil M. Bauyot, with Ms. Laarni Pasion, who serves as the Focal Person on IP Engagement. This association serves as a formal platform for the Mandaya community to organize, plan, and implement livelihood programs.
These initiatives reflect DOrSU’s commitment to providing livelihood support to Taocanga, addressing the community’s need for sustainable economic opportunities. Community members and newly appointed officers of the Kapunungan ng Mandaya sang Diomabok actively participated in the program and expressed optimism about the potential impact of these projects.
