FORWARD TOGETHER: DOrSU, DepEd Ink Agreements to Advance Education
Davao Oriental State University signed Memoranda of Agreement (MOAs) today, May 3, with the DepEd Mati City Division, DepEd Davao Oriental Division, and Doña Rosa G. Rabat Memorial High School at the University Boardroom.
The partnership between DOrSU’s Gender Research and Resource Center (GRRC) and DepEd Mati City Division, represented by Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Winnie E. Batoon, CESO V, will be implementing an extension program titled Gender and Development (GAD) Learning Academy. The program will focus on providing extension initiatives to administrators, teachers, and students in the DepEd, such as gender sensitivity training for teachers and students, GAD planning and budgeting workshops, and the establishment of a database for Sex Disaggregated Data (SDD). Additionally, there will be efforts to promote gender-sensitive teaching methodologies and publish education and communication materials to raise awareness.
The partnership also extends to educational programs, with DOrSU’s Graduate school teaming up with DepEd Mati City Division to establish a Teacher Training Academy. This academy will offer training on research methodologies, teaching strategies, test construction, rubric making, and more, benefiting teachers from Mati Northwest, Mati South, Mati Northeast, and Mati Central Districts.
The collaboration also includes initiatives to promote Filipino language and culture. DOrSU’s Sentro ng Wika at Kultura is partnering with DepEd Mati City Division, DepEd Davao Oriental Division led by Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Josephine L. Fadul, CESO V, and Doña Rosa G. Rabat Memorial High School under the leadership of its Principal, Dr. Joselito Hugue. Activities under this partnership include literary and linguistic gatherings, cultural exchanges, and programs for enhancing reading and comprehension skills.
This partnership demonstrates the shared commitment of DepEd and DOrSU to advancing education, promoting gender equality, and empowering individuals in the Mati community. By combining their strengths and resources, both institutions are poised to make significant strides towards a more inclusive and equitable society. (DOrSU PIO)
